WHAT: Highlands Online is looking for ‘virtual greeters’ to join our online congregation that gathers to worship on Sunday mornings via Livestream and YouTube. Much like you would find greeters and hosts when you first walk through the doors of our buildings, it is important that our online visitors are shown the same hospitality. Our greeters welcome people, encourage conversation, help with troubleshoots, hold space for prayer, and really just love any excuse to text during church! When people join us online, they are not worshipping alone — they’re worshipping with us, so let’s get chatting!
WHO: If you have a computer, laptop or smart phone and a solid WiFi connection you can do this job. We will help set you up with a Livestream account (if you don’t already have one) and give you some basic training in how to respond to common concerns and questions. There is no technical skill required. If you can text, you can host. Don’t live in North Vancouver? Don’t let that stop you! Our hosts work from all over the world. Being here in person is not necessary. Yes, that means you can do this job in your pajamas.
WHEN: Our hosts go live when the service does — around 9:45AM on Sunday mornings. They stay present throughout the service and log off when the service ends around 11:30. Hosts can work as little or as often as they like. Maybe one Sunday every quarter is plenty, or perhaps once a month feels better. Whatever works for your schedule works for ours.
HOW: If you are interested in joining the Online Host team, please contact our Online Minister, Andria Irwin at email@example.com call 604-980-6071 x 226
